Network of paths and circular routes

From Puig-Reig to Ginebret

This route runs through one of the few forest areas in this area that was not affected by the 1994 fires, the lush pine forests of the shady areas contrasting with the more Mediterranean vegetation on the southern slopes and vegetation. of shore near the stream of Merlès and the river Llobregat. Ginebret rises above the plains of the Baix Berguedà and the northern Bages, which gives it extraordinary panoramic views at almost 360º. Exceptional views of the central depression and the mountains of Alt Berguedà. The various farmhouses, the Romanesque hermitages of the Mare de Déu de Ginebret and Sant Andreu de Cal Pallot, the Templar construction of Periques, and the whole of the industrial colony of Cal Pons provide the historical-cultural aspect of the itinerary.

Description
The itinerary departs from Plaça Sant Josep in Colonia Pons, and descends to the factory. At the end of the Orient street where the flats are located, it joins the Camí del Llobregat (GR270), and continues down the river in front of the factory and leaving through the west portal, along the paved road.
You will soon find yourself on the Serradora bridge, where you have to leave the GR markings and continue towards Ginebret following the yellow markings. You cross the river Llobregat and along an asphalted road you will reach a height passing through the Serradora Boix and until you cross the motorway through the underpass. Here you turn right and at the next roundabout you continue along the track that goes to the left, the Camí de Cal Pallot. A few meters later you have to leave it and continue on the path on the right that will take you to the Camping de Puig-reig where you have to follow the trail to the east and border the campsite below. You will pass near the Bardaix and gradually you will reach height and will expand the views to the south, where you can see the Vidal colony in the valley of the river Llobregat and on a clear day the mountains of Montserrat in the background.
After leaving several crossroads with other forest tracks, already on the descent, you will have to leave it for a path on the left that goes down through the forest to the house of the Vila - in rubble - where you have to follow the track to the ' left, to reach the Canals Bridge, where the Merlès stream crosses. Next, continue along the path that follows the stream to the east, which cuts off the track. A little before the house of the Canals you will find it again and you will continue passing it near the house. You will gradually rise again, in the middle of a shady pine forest. It's a long climb where you have to be careful of the multiple forks in the tracks to avoid getting mistaken. Finally, the track is left for a much more modest one on the left, which continues to gain height until it is already a path. Each time the views to the south were widened, where you can distinguish Montserrat, Sant Llorenç del Munt and Montseny in the background. Finally the path ends at a secondary track that you must follow to the right until you reach the Vilar de Pregones.

You will pass over the house and continue going up, now more gently, to Ginebret. From the house, the track is paved and a few meters away is the chapel of the Virgin of Ginebret, crowning this plateau. It is a small Romanesque chapel from the 11th or 12th century. The building has been partially modified but its true Romanesque structure is still evident. From this point the views are opened to the north from where you can see much of the pre-Pyrenees: Port del Compte to the Puigmal massif, passing through the Capolat cliffs, the Lladres mountain range and the Queralt mountain range. Rasos de Peguera, Ensija, the Cadí and the Moixeró and the Tossa and the Puigllançada leaving behind the Catllassos and the Picancel. Whoever is an observer will be able to look at the pedraforca pollegons.

After the hermitage, you have to leave the paved road and continue on the left. Not yet 100 m later, you will take the GR 4 and GR 176, which you must follow towards Puig-reig and Sant Andreu de Cal Pallot. At the next fork, leave the GR 4 and continue on the straight track that follows the GR 176. The track continues through a zone of fields until you have to turn off a path to the left. By following it quickly you will lose height. You will cross a track - following it a few meters down - and again by path you will continue to descend until you reach the track on the right you will lower down to La Molina. Just below the house, you will find a wide track, which if you continue to the left will take you to the bridge to cross the Merlès creek again. Here you have a good way to find this good way to cross the creek. There is a road that goes straight from Ginebret to Cal Pallot, but there is no bridge, and you can only cross when the flow is scarce.

By the fairly flat track, now following a stream down, you will reach Cal Pallot a country house of the s. XVI-XIX. There is already knowledge but of a settlement in this place in the s. X. You can access the Romanesque chapel of Sant Andreu de Cal Pallot, following the path below the house towards the stream. It is a 12th-century building. Near the chapel you can also see the ruins of an old mill and vats.

To continue the route, follow the track to the west, which climbs uphill and will soon leave the fields through the pine forest. A track is followed immediately to return to the track, gaining height. You will reach a hill where there is more than one track, you must follow the path to the right. You will soon begin a rapid descent down a somewhat technical descent that will need to be taken into account. You cross a track and a few meters later the GR ends at it. You will pass near the house of Les Comes and again you will have to cross the motorway through an underpass.

The forest track will take you to Periques, another medieval enclave of special importance for the Templars. The farmhouse of Sant Julià has been documented since 1212, on which at the end of the thirteenth century the Templars, lords of the castle and the municipality of Puig-reig, began the construction of a farm-convent. The current construction dates to the late 13th or early 14th centuries. The dissolution of the order, at the beginning of the fourteenth century, prevented the construction from being fully completed and function as an agricultural and livestock center of the Puig-reig Command. Under the rule of the Hospitalers it was the temporary residence of the members of the order, and in the 17th century it was already functioning as a farmhouse. Around the beginning of the nineteenth century the farm was acquired by the family of the present owners and continued as a farm.

Again, follow the path that cuts the track, which when you find it you must continue to the right to go to the Periques bridge to cross the river Llobregat. If you want to load water, you will access the Periques fountain on the east side of the bridge. Once you cross the river, you will find the Llobregat road (GR 270), which you will follow until the end of the route. Follow a few meters to the left along the side of the road towards Puig-reig and before reaching the bend, go down the path on the left that will take you to the factory of Cal Cases.

At this point you will leave the GR 176 which you follow from Ginebret and head towards the center of Puig-reig. From the factory leave the path that you must follow that passes on the right bank of the river. You will pass through an area of orchards before entering the riverbank forest, just under the village houses. You will arrive at the village water intake pumps, where you will follow the track a few meters, to turn left again to the riverbed where there is a poplar. Finally, a ledge with some climbed sections, will take you to Cal Pons, crossing first what is left of the northern portal of the colony, and after passing through the street of the flats, get again in front of the Church along the same path you have made in the first place.
